Farming project to alleviate poverty
We have recently launched a new farming project which is now runing as a pilot project on a private plot and we urgently need help to get bigger farmland.
The country has experienced long spells of dry periods which in turn made food scarce and very expensive. The country has resorted to importing of food which is a short term solution but of course very costly.
After identifying this need we decided to do farming in order to boost the food supplies and at the same time give job opportunities to the local population. The local production of foodstuffs will also make the prices drop thus making it affordable for all.
We will ensure that the cultivation is carried out in respect for the environment. This means, we will not over exploit the land ridding it of its nutrients and we will strictly control the use of insecticides and fertilizers.
For the time being we have a pilot project that is running on a private plot of about 1/8 of an acre. We are planting tomatoes on this land in green houses and the Kenyan government is helping by providing well trained and experienced agricultural technicians to get this project off the ground.
We urgently need funds to buy land to expand and diversify our exploitation. We need your help to purchase land and continue on bigger farmland in order to plant different kinds of vegetables and cereals which are urgently needed.
We employ people from the local population and this not only gives them the chance to earn a living but it empowers them in that they get the knowledge necessary to do sustainable farming on their own.
